چکیده
Controlling biological molecular processes with light is of high interest in research and biomedicine, as allows precise selective activation a non-invasive non-toxic manner. A process benefitting from control the transport cargo across membranes, which conventionally achieved by membrane-puncturing barrel-shaped nanopores. Yet, there considerable to construct more complex gated pores. Here, we pioneer synthetic light-gated nanostructure controls membranes via controllable lid. The light-triggered nanopore self-assembled six pore DNA strands lid strand carrying light-switchable azobenzene molecules. Exposure opens allow small-molecule membranes. Our advances biomimetic chemistry nanotechnology may be used biotechnology, biosensing, targeted drug release, or cells.

A nanopore machine promotes the vectorial transport of DNA across membranes
The transport of nucleic acids through membrane pores is a fundamental biological process that occurs in all living organisms. It occurs, for example, during the import of viral DNA into the host cell or during the nuclear pore complex-mediated transport of mRNA in and out the cell nucleus and has implications in nucleic acid drug delivery and gene therapy. Here we describe an engineered DNA tr...
متن کاملIon Transport across Biological Membranes by Carborane-Capped Gold Nanoparticles
Carborane-capped gold nanoparticles (Au/carborane NPs, 2-3 nm) can act as artificial ion transporters across biological membranes. The particles themselves are large hydrophobic anions that have the ability to disperse in aqueous media and to partition over both sides of a phospholipid bilayer membrane. Their presence therefore causes a membrane potential that is determined by the relative conc...
متن کاملChannel-facilitated molecular transport across membranes: attraction, repulsion, and asymmetry.
Transport of molecules across membrane channels is investigated theoretically using exactly solvable discrete stochastic site-binding models. It is shown that the interaction potential between molecules and the channel has a strong effect on translocation dynamics. The presence of attractive binding sites in the pore accelerates the particle current for small concentrations outside the membrane...
متن کاملSelective and asymmetric molecular transport across electroporated cell membranes.
Transport of a divalent cation (Ca2+) and three DNA indicators [ethidium bromide (EB), propidium iodide (PI), and ethidium homodimer (EthD-1)] across electroporated membranes of several mammalian cell lines was found to be selective and asymmetrical. In low salt medium, Ca2+ and EB were preferentially transported across the anodefacing cell membrane while PI and EthD-1 predominately entered at ...
متن کاملProtein translocation across biological membranes.
Subcellular compartments have unique protein compositions, yet protein synthesis only occurs in the cytosol and in mitochondria and chloroplasts. How do proteins get where they need to go? The first steps are targeting to an organelle and efficient translocation across its limiting membrane. Given that most transport systems are exquisitely substrate specific, how are diverse protein sequences ...
